Keep logo showcases fast: what Logo Carousel already does for you, and the few settings worth checking.
A logo showcase is mostly images plus a little JavaScript. Logos are usually small, so most showcases are light by nature. When pages do get slow, it's almost always one of a handful of causes, and each has a simple fix.
Work down this page in order. The first two sections are where nearly all the gain is.
What's already handled for you
You don't need to configure any of this:
- Code loads only where it's used. A block's styles and scripts load only on pages where that block appears. The popup script loads only when a block uses the Popup click action.
- Only the fonts you use. Google Fonts load only for the font families you've picked in a block's typography settings, combined across all blocks on the page. If you don't pick a font, none load and your theme's font is used.
- The first logo loads first. The first logo gets download priority, so the visible part of the showcase appears quickly.
- Marquees rest when off screen. A marquee that's scrolled out of view stops animating until it comes back.
- Scheduled blocks outside their window send nothing. No markup, no styles, no scripts.
1. Use the right image size
WordPress keeps several sizes of every uploaded image. If a logo displays 150 px wide, there's no reason to download a 2,000 px file.
- Select the block and open the Logo Images panel.
- Check Resolution. It defaults to Large, which suits most logos.
- For small logos, try Medium. Use Full only if the logo genuinely displays very large.
Before uploading, it also helps to export logos at a sensible size. SVG is ideal for logos: it's tiny and sharp at any size.
2. Leave Lazy Load on
Lazy Load, in the same Logo Images panel, is on by default. Leave it that way.
With lazy loading on, the logos visible when the page opens load straight away, and the rest wait until they're about to be seen. On a carousel with 40 logos, that's most of the download deferred. With it off, every logo loads immediately.
Don't run two lazy loaders
If an optimization plugin also lazy-loads images, the two can fight, and logos may appear late or not at all. Turn image lazy loading off in one of them, not both.
3. Keep the logo count sensible
Every logo is markup plus an image, whether or not anyone scrolls to it. Logo Carousel warns you as a block grows:
| Logos in one block | What happens in the editor |
|---|---|
| 100 or more | An info notice. The sidebar shows logos in batches, with See More to load the next batch, so the editor stays responsive. |
| 250 or more | A warning that large collections can slow editing and rendering. |
| 500 | The limit. You can't add more logos to this block until you remove some. |
If you pick more logos than the limit allows, only the ones that fit are added, and a message tells you how many.
For large collections:
- Split them up. One block per category or tier (Gold sponsors, Silver sponsors…) is lighter and easier to scan.
- Use pagination. On Grid, List and Table, pagination shows the first page of logos and reveals the rest with Load More or page numbers.
- Keep marquees short. A marquee repeats its logos to fill the loop, so 15 logos look much the same as 60.
4. Turn off what you don't use
In Logo Carousel → Getting Started, the Modules and Blocks tabs let you switch off anything this site doesn't need. See Modules and Blocks.
A switched-off block isn't loaded in the editor at all. A switched-off module removes its panels and stops its effect on the page.
Switching off affects existing content
Turning a block off stops it from being available on the site. Turning a module off removes that feature everywhere it's used (for example, every Motion Effect stops). Check your pages before and after.
5. Mind scheduled pages
A page with a scheduled block is excluded from page caching, so the schedule is always accurate. That page is built fresh for each visitor. Once a campaign ends, switch Scheduling off on that block so the page can be cached again.
6. Choose motion with care
None of these are wrong, but they add work:
- Autoplay keeps the page busy. Several autoplaying carousels on one page add up.
- Motion Effects → Scroll recalculates as the visitor scrolls. Use it on one or two blocks, not all of them.
- Hover animations and image filters on dozens of logos add a little work on every hover.
7. Work with your caching and optimization plugins
Most "it works in the editor but not on the live page" reports come from another plugin's optimization settings.
If a carousel shows as a plain column of logos on the live site, its JavaScript didn't run. Usually:
- Combine or minify JavaScript changed the script order.
- Delay or defer JavaScript held the carousel's script back.
To confirm and fix:
- Open the page in a private window to rule out your own logged-in cache.
- Temporarily turn off the optimization plugin. If the carousel works, you've found the cause.
- Turn it back on, and add Logo Carousel's scripts to that plugin's exclusion list rather than leaving optimization off.
Control Assets is for classic views
Settings → Control Assets lets you stop individual libraries (Swiper, Font Awesome and others) from loading. Those switches only affect classic shortcode views. Blocks load their own assets and ignore them. See Settings → Control Assets.
Quick checklist
- [ ] Resolution isn't Full unless the logos really display large.
- [ ] Lazy Load is on, and no second plugin lazy-loads the same images.
- [ ] Large collections are split up or paginated.
- [ ] Unused modules and blocks are off.
- [ ] Finished campaigns have Scheduling switched off.
- [ ] You've checked the page in a private window and on a phone.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Logos are slow to appear | Resolution set to Full, or very large original files. | Lower Resolution, or re-upload smaller files. |
| A carousel shows as a stacked column on the live site | JavaScript was combined, deferred or delayed. | Exclude Logo Carousel's scripts from your optimization plugin. |
| Logos below the fold never load | Two lazy loaders conflicting. | Turn off image lazy loading in your optimization plugin or in the block. |
| The editor feels sluggish | Hundreds of logos in one block. | Split the block, or use a Grid with pagination. |
| "Maximum limit of 500 logos reached." | The block is at the 500-logo limit. | Remove some logos or create another block. |
| One page is never cached | It contains a scheduled block. | Expected. Switch Scheduling off when it's no longer needed. |
| The live page still shows the old design | Page, server or CDN cache. | Purge your caching plugin and CDN. |
