FAQ

Short answers to the questions people ask most, each with a link to the full explanation.

If your question is really "why isn't this working?", go to Troubleshooting instead.

Getting started

Do I need to know how to code? No. Everything in these docs is point-and-click. Only the developer pages assume PHP knowledge, and you never need them.

Can I try it before buying? Yes. The free Logo Carousel plugin on WordPress.org includes the Carousel and Grid blocks, the Ready Patterns Library, Build with AI and Saved Templates. Free vs Pro lists exactly what Pro adds.

What does my site need? A current version of WordPress and PHP. The full list is on Requirements.

I installed the plugin. Where do I start? Open Logo Carousel → Getting Started in your WordPress admin and pick Use a Pattern, Build with AI or Start Blank. Or follow the Quick Start.

License

Where do I enter my license key? Go to Logo Carousel → Settings → License Key, paste the key and click Activate License. Step by step: Installation.

What happens if I don't activate a license? You can still build in the editor, but on the live site visitors see nothing where your blocks should be. Administrators see a notice asking them to activate. See the license notice.

What happens when my license expires? Your logo showcases keep working. You stop getting plugin updates and support until you renew.

How many sites can I use one license on? As many as your plan allows. The status card under Settings → License Key shows how many are in use, for example "1 of 5 sites activated".

How do I move my license to another site? Click Deactivate on the License Key screen of the old site, then activate the key on the new site. If you can't reach the old site any more, free up the activation from your ShapedPlugin account.

Can I run the free and Pro plugins together? You can have both installed, but only Pro runs. When Pro is active, the free plugin steps aside, and everything you built with it keeps working because both use the same blocks and settings. See Upgrading.

Blocks or classic?

What's the difference between the blocks and the classic version? With blocks, you add a Carousel, Grid, List, Marquee or Table block to a page and design it right there with a live preview. With the classic version, you add logos under All Logos, build a view under Manage Views, and paste its shortcode into a page. Both work, and you can use both on one site. See Blocks Overview and Classic Overview.

Which should I use? Use blocks unless you have a reason not to. They're faster to design, they get the new features, and they're what Ready Patterns and Build with AI create.

Will my existing shortcodes keep working? Yes. Classic views, the [logocarousel] shortcode, the Classic Shortcode block and the classic widget all keep working.

Can a block use the logos I already added under All Logos? No. Blocks take their logos from your Media Library, and each block keeps its own list. The All Logos screen only feeds classic views. Your logo images are already in the Media Library, though, so picking them for a block takes seconds.

Can I turn a Carousel into a Grid later? Yes, in Pro Pro. Select the block, open the block type menu in the toolbar and choose another Logo Carousel block under Transform to. Your logos and every setting the new block understands come across. See Block transforms.

Logos

Which image formats can I use? PNG, JPG, GIF and WebP. Administrators can also upload SVG while Allow SVG Uploads is on in the block. Logo Carousel cleans every SVG before saving it. See Adding Logos.

Is there a file size limit? It's the same as your site's normal upload limit, which you can see under Media → Add New.

What happens if I upload the same logo twice? Logo Carousel spots the duplicate and reuses the image already in your Media Library instead of storing a second copy.

How many logos can one block hold? Up to 500. You'll see a note at 100 and a warning at 250, because very large blocks get slower to edit and to load. For big collections, split the logos across several blocks.

If I change a logo's title or alt text, does the Media Library update too? Yes. Edits to the title, alt text and description are saved back to the image in the Media Library.

Can I add a link to each logo? Yes, in the Logo URL field of each logo Pro. Then set the block's Click Actions to Logo URL. Links open in a new tab. See Edit a logo.

Can I put logos in groups? Yes. Give each logo one or more categories in its Category field Pro. Visitors can then filter by category with Ajax Live Filter. See Logo categories.

Can I change the order? Drag the logos into the order you want. See Reorder. Or turn on Random Display Order Pro to shuffle them on every page load. Shuffling happens in the visitor's browser, so it still works with page caching.

Design and layout

Which block should I pick? Think about how visitors should see the logos. A sliding row is a Carousel. Everything visible at once is a Grid. Endless motion is a Marquee. A directory with details is a List or a Table. The Blocks Overview compares them.

Can I show a different number of logos on phones? Yes. Columns and most size and spacing settings have a device switcher (Desktop, Tablet, Mobile). Tablet applies at 900 px and below, and Mobile at 600 px and below.

Why are there no arrows or dots on my phone?Hide on Mobile is on by default for both. Turn it off in the Navigation Arrows and Pagination Dots panels.

How do I make my logos look the same size? Set an Aspect Ratio in Logo Images. Every logo then sits in a box of the same shape. Logos are scaled to fit, never cropped.

Can I use my own CSS? Yes. Add a class under Additional CSS Class(es) in Advanced Settings, then write your rules in Logo Carousel → Settings → Additional CSS & JS. See Custom CSS & JS. Never edit the plugin's files, because updates overwrite them.

Can I reuse one design on several pages? Yes. Save it as a Saved Template and place its [lc_template id="…"] shortcode wherever you need it. Edit the template once and every page updates.

Features

Can I show a logo's name when someone hovers over it? Yes, with Tooltips Pro. On touch screens, the tooltip opens on tap instead.

Can visitors click a logo to read more about the company? Yes. Set Click Actions to Popup to open the Logo Details popup Pro, which shows the logo, its categories, description and link.

Can I show logos only during an event? Yes. Turn on Scheduling Pro in the block and set a start and end date and time. Outside that window, the block isn't sent to visitors at all.

What's the difference between a pattern and a Saved Template? A pattern is a ready-made design from ShapedPlugin that you insert and make your own. A Saved Template is your finished design, with a shortcode for reuse. Many people start from a pattern and save the result as a template.

Why does a pattern insert logos that aren't mine? Those are demo logos so you can see the design working. Click Edit Logos in the block toolbar and pick your own images. They replace the whole demo set.

Build with AI

Is the AI included in my license? The feature is, but the AI service isn't. You bring your own API key from Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenAI or Groq and pay that provider directly, or you connect a provider through WordPress's own Connectors screen. See AI Builder.

Do I have to use it? No. Without a key nothing changes, and you can switch the Build with AI module off entirely in Modules.

What gets sent to the AI provider? Your prompt, the block type, and, when you refine a block, its current design settings. Your logo images, logo names, links and descriptions are never sent. The request goes straight from your server to the provider you chose.

Can it change a block I already built? Yes. Select the block and click Refine with AI in its toolbar. Describe the change, such as "slower, with grayscale logos", and it adjusts the settings.

Is there a limit on the prompt? Yes, 1,000 characters. Describe one showcase per prompt.

Page builders

Does it work with Elementor, Divi and other builders? Yes: Elementor, Divi (4 and 5), WPBakery, Beaver Builder, Bricks and Oxygen. Design a Saved Template in the block editor, then add the Logo Carousel element in your builder and pick the template. In Elementor, the widget is called Logo Carousel Saved Template. See Integrations.

Why is my template missing from the builder's dropdown? Only published templates are listed. Publish the template, then reload the builder.

Can I place a showcase from PHP? Yes. Use echo do_shortcode( '[lc_template id="12"]' ); for a Saved Template, or logocarousel( 42 ); for a classic view. See Shortcodes and Block Attributes.

Analytics

Can I see how often logos are viewed and clicked? Yes, under Logo Carousel → Analytics Pro. You need two things switched on: the Analytics module and Logo Analytics in Settings → Advanced. Tracking is off until you turn it on. See Analytics.

How are views and clicks counted? Each visitor's IP address is counted once per logo for views and once for clicks. The numbers show how many different people saw or clicked each logo, not every page load. Logged-in visits to wp-admin aren't counted.

Does analytics store personal data? It stores visitors' IP addresses alongside the logo they saw or clicked. Mention this in your privacy policy if you turn it on.

Compatibility

Does it work with caching plugins and CDNs? Yes. Clear your caches after changing a showcase, and if a carousel stops moving, exclude Logo Carousel's script from JavaScript combining or delaying. Pages with a scheduled block tell caching plugins not to cache them, so the schedule is always respected. See Performance.

Does it support right-to-left languages? The plugin's styles have right-to-left versions. A carousel doesn't switch direction automatically, though: set Carousel Direction in Layouts → Carousel tab.

Does it work with WPML or Polylang? Block showcases are part of your page content, so when your translation plugin translates a page, the block's logo titles and text come with it. Translate them as you would any other page content.

Can I translate the plugin's own text? Yes. Its text domain is logo-carousel-pro, and a translation template ships in the plugin's languages folder for tools like Loco Translate or Poedit.

Is it accessible? Carousels can be operated with the keyboard, arrows have screen-reader labels, and motion effects and the Marquee respect visitors' reduced-motion setting. See Accessibility.

Does it work on multisite? Yes. Each site has its own settings and showcases, and the data clean-up option is set per site.

Data and removal

What happens to my showcases if I deactivate the plugin? Nothing is deleted. Blocks stop showing on your pages and classic shortcodes appear as plain text until you reactivate.

Does deleting the plugin delete my data? Only if you turned on Clean-up Data on Deletion in Settings → Advanced. It's off by default. Read Uninstalling & Data before you delete anything.

Can I move my logos to another site? Classic logos and views, yes: export them from Settings → Import & Export. Block showcases travel with the pages they're on, in a normal WordPress export.
